Technologiezentrum Ruhr
The general planner SSP AG has created highly flexible and adaptable space for start-ups, technology companies and future-oriented companies from various sectors on around 12,000 square metres of gross floor area - in the direct vicinity of Bochum University of Applied Sciences and Ruhr University (RUB). The spaces serve to network a wide range of local and regional players with areas for events, workshops and workshop processes.
The building follows the method of the SSP planning label GreytoGreenÆ and impressively implements the sustainability strategies of efficiency (energy and resources), consistency (cradle to cradle) and sufficiency (avoidance of unnecessary building materials and elements).
Another aim of the concept addresses climate adaptation measures in the context of advancing climate change. Here, elements such as the green south-facing climate faÁade, water storage on the roof, faÁade and plot, as well as the scientifically supported planning process, which accompanies and optimises the interaction of the various measures applied, provide support.
RETROLux technology was used as part of the climate adaptation measures. The openable windows and escape doors are fitted with RETROLux 25 mm and a hand crank. They were installed on the window sashes from the inside. The fixed glazed areas are fitted with RETROLux 50 mm. The motors are controlled centrally.
