Worldwide, laboratory buildings, especially clean rooms, are increasingly equipped with insulating glass integrated, fixed daylight systems. The advantages are striking: no dust load, less mainte- nance, extremely low g-values and an excellent daylighting even in large hall depths.

The cleanroom labs of the Novartis pharmaceutical production are equipped with RETROLuxTherm 20 mm louvers

in the insulating glass on the east, south and west sides. The exterior glazing is made in "extra clear" with low-iron glazing. The RETROLuxTherm louvers are coated with PVD achieving a total reflectivity of 96%. The low-e coating is on position 3. The absorption and a heat development during summer is reduced to a minimum. The inner glas heats up to a maximum of 30 °C only.
