All the windows in the laboratory building were fitted with the RETROLux Therm micro daylight control system as a fixed installati- on. Two inlets are installed in each of the large windows, which have a central support profile and are firmly connected to each other via a coupling profile.
The windows are zoned with regard to their function of sun protection and room illumination: The RETROLux Therm type U system is installed up to a height of 1.80 metres. Above 1.80 to approx. 2.20 m, type O with zenithal light control is installed. Above 2.20 m, type U was again used to prevent the building from overheating in summer despite the simultaneous supply of daylight.
Additional movable solar shading for the windows was completely dispensed with. Despite the solar shading and glare protection, the faÁade retains its transparency, but due to the zenithal deflection, it enables uniform room depth illumination up to 8 m room depth with natural daylight.
An additional solar control layer on the glass panes has also been dispensed with. The light control systems enable a summer g-value of < 0.07 due to the 3-pane glazing!
