RWTH Aachen University has equipped various institute buildings with RETROLux 50 mm. All blinds were installed on the inside in shaft mounts and are controlled fully automatically depen- ding on the position of the sun.

The solar shading is activated by means of a sun sensor on the roof. The angular inclination of the slats for angles of incidence from 0° to 30° are programmed in advance on the computer, taking into account the exact latitude and faÁade orientation, and read into the hardware on site. The slats were tracked at 1/2 hour intervals. For angles of incidence > 30°, the slats remain in a horizontal position and allow good visibility.
