Careful renovation of a 350m2 ridge glazing

In 2017/2018, the historic locomotive shed from 1878 was redeveloped by the architectural firm Jarcke and is now used as their planning office. An essential element of the reconstruction was the design of the daylight technology in the ridge glazing. The task was to supply the space with daylight without to glare or to overexpose the working desks and to avoid overheating in summer. These complex requirements were realized with the RETROLuxTherm 12 mm louvers within the triple glazing, which are more open towards the north sky and more closed to the south side. The glazing reduces during summer an irradiation of 350 KW/h to 24.5 KW/h only, which is needed to illuminate the interior. with daylight.
